Abstract

The increasing number of vehicles in hospital areas has significantly raised parking demand, making it essential to evaluate parking capacity and operational performance. This study aims to analyze the parking capacity of Building a Parking Facility at Dr. Kariadi General Hospital, Semarang, to assess the adequacy of existing parking facilities and propose optimization strategies. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using field observations conducted over 14 working days from July 14 to July 31, 2025. Primary data were collected by recording vehicle entry and exit movements and analyzed using parking volume, accumulation, parking duration, static capacity, Parking Turn Over (PTO), and Parking Occupancy Ratio (POR). The results indicate that the parking building provides a static capacity of 310 parking spaces, with daily parking volumes ranging from 294 to 307 vehicles, an average parking duration of 3.73 hours, and a POR of 95-99%, indicating a highly utilized parking facility. Therefore, optimizing parking management through parking guidance systems, electronic parking systems, and improved vehicle distribution among floors is considered more effective than expanding physical capacity. Future research should examine parking demand for all vehicle types and evaluate its impact on surrounding traffic performance.
